about

The notoriously reclusive and slow moving London band The Original Beekeepers release their third album for Linear Obsessional, honing down their peculiarly droll English chamber pop.

"Fear for the Future" contains 9 new songs, documenting aoproaching middle age, the choice of domesticity over creativity and the perils of nostalgia. Expanding the core sound with brass, guest vocalists and found sounds and samples, this is undoubtably their strongest album yet - including "This is the Age of the Train" a kind of updating of Flanders and Swann's Beeching train lament "slow train" into a post privatisation chugger and "Real Life Gets in the Way" the showtune about the dot.com bubble we've all been waiting for.
Exquisite arrangements meet the expected sarky vocals and some sweet harmonies, and some brilliantly wrongfooting weirdness - Linear Obsessional's token pop band, a mass collective effort, (but largely the work of Tom Owen and Steve Bynghall) is back, and pre-brexit gloom has never been so lovely.
